Community service projects over the years have been many and varied.  Most have been one-off events, such as the raising of funds in 1978/79 to finance the purchase a scanner for the hospital, and providing materials and labour for the restoration of classrooms at the School in Tonga following storm damage in 2002.

Ongoing events have included organising an annual raft race on the Wanganui River for many years and hosting the annual Rotary golf tournament.  In July 2006 the inaugral International Food Festival was held. This was a very successful event hosted by the club, and intend to make this an annual event in Wanganui to allow people to get a taste of the various asian cultures and food that is offered.

All the Projects that are undertaken by the club have contributed, and do contribute, significantly towards financing local and international community service activities.

The Rotary motto "SERVICE ABOVE SELF" epitomises the members enthusiasm in completing these projects.
